Tickets for the historic 2008 Stadium Shootout featuring Louisville against Minnesota and Brigham Young taking on Arizona State will go on sale nationwide at 10:00 am Saturday, September 27th. Tickets will be available online through www.ticketmaster.com and all Ticketmaster retail locations. Game is set for December 20th 2008 at the University of Phoenix Stadium at Noon.
The games will mark the first ever basketball event held at the renown University of Phoenix Stadium home of Super Bowl XLII. The double header could set the attendance record for a basketball game in the State of Arizona and will likely be a major step in attracting the Men’s Final Four to the Grand Canyon State.
All four teams taking the court in the inaugural event won at least 20 games and participated in a post season tournament during the 2007-08 season. The Louisville Cardinals will take on the Golden Gophers of Minnesota in a game that will pair two championship coaches and former colleagues against one another for the first time since Smith left Kentucky for Minnesota in 2007.
The other contest features an Arizona homecoming. Home town team Arizona State University will face off against Brigham Young University led by former Mesa High and Arizona Republic High School Player of the Year Lee Cummard.
