Christmas will come early for basketball and country music fans in the Valley this year as the rising star twin sister act of Kate & Kacey Coppola will be performing a free concert at Tempe Marketplace on Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. Tempe Marketplace, which features a free nightly snow show starting Nov. 26th, will be the spotlight for sports and entertainment as the Coppola sisters will be joined by four of the top coaches in college basketball for an unique opportunity.
Dave and Buster’s at Tempe Marketplace will be the location for the VIP reception with scheduled appearances by Stadium Shootout coaches including Herb Sendek, Arizona State, Rick Pitino, Louisville, Tubby Smith, Minnesota, and Dave Rose from Brigham Young. The concert located at the District Stage will be free to the public while a limited number of tickets for the VIP reception can be pre-purchased for $30. The reception will start at 6pm and will include a meet and greet with Kate & Kacey after their performance.
During Kate & Kacey’s performance at Tempe Marketplace, and at their halftime set fans can expect the same level of talent and enthusiasm that was displayed during their memorable run to the semifinals of the bit Country Music Television reality show, Can You Duet?
“It was one of the most difficult things in our career and one of the most rewarding,” says Kacey. “We are here today because of it, and I think it made us so much stronger.”
That strength and tremendous talent has already landed the opportunity to write a song for country music legend George Strait, a real-life dream come true. Kate & Kacey co-wrote the song “House with No Doors” with Jamey Johnson and the song is featured on Strait’s current album “Troubadour”.
“We have been dreaming about being able to sing together and build a life around music since we were little girls,” says Kate. “But actually getting the chance to do it is a hundred times bigger and better than we could have ever imagined.”
Kate and Kacey have yet to release an album, but they are already turning heads in the country music world. The recent People Magazine Country Holliday Issue features an article on the twins and their new song “You’re Not My Judge,” a response to their Can You Duet? experience.
The song “is about not allowing people to tell you something’s not possible,” says Kate. “We believe music is a way to connect. We believe it is a way to live and love and that is all we want to do.”
The girls will also be featured during halftime of the inaugural 2008 Stadium Shootout on Dec. 20 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.
