About Idol Sports & Entertainment, Inc. (ISE)
Originally founded in Seattle in 1994, ISE has organized and participated in more than 500 unique events and tournaments. ISE is one of the few companies in the country that works with all levels of sports, including professional athletes, youth teams with AAU and high schools, major universities, and professional teams, including the Phoenix Suns and Seattle Sonics.
In June 2010 ISE launched a successful test market event by hosting more than 220 youth basketball teams in their first annual Invitational Basketball Series. The no entry fee event gave boys and girls ages 9-17 and their families a chance to enjoy a weekend get-away while allowing the opportunity to play competitive basketball in local high schools across the valley. With 2200 players and more than 5000 fans, the event attracted more than 1000 hotel room nights for the phoenix area and created an economic impact to the region of approximately $250,000.
In December 2011 ISE will host three nationally televised neutral site men’s college basketball games – the ninth annual State Farm Battle in Seattle with Gonzaga taking on Arizona, the inaugural Wichita Wildcat Classic featuring Kansas State & West Virginia and the sixth annual Cougar Hardwood Classic with Washington State University .
In the past ISE has run the largest known youth basketball camp in the world, titled Santa Slam, in coordination with NBA teams. This camp hosted approximately 25,000 participants in 25 cities. ISE also organized and ran the Northern Quest Casino Spokane All Americans Charity Classic featuring Dan Dickau and Adam Morrison. The summer classic featured NBA players with former Gonzaga alum playing together in an event to raise money needy charities.
In 2008 ISE hosted the first ever basketball game held at the University of Phoenix Stadium. This historic event was a doubleheader featuring the Arizona State University Sun Devils against the Brigham Young University Cougars and the University of Louisville Cardinals against the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers. This doubleheader event will be a major step towards bringing a Final Four to Arizona.
Idol Golf
Idol Sports was proud to announce in August 2010 that it had agreed to terms for the purchase of LLC Company Desert Divots in an effort to enhance services and accelerate the “Idol Golf” venture created in 2009.
Started in 2004 by software developer Doug Rankin, Desert Divots specializes in organizing and managing creative, innovative golf tournaments. Since its inception, Desert Divots has created events for business, charity and celebrity clients that have accumulated more than 1 million dollars for those organizations.
Through the acquisition, Idol Sports plans to re-launch Desert Divots powered by Idol Golf by fall of 2010 and have tapped Vice President and Director of Special Events Marci Hines to oversee the company’s transition.
It is expected that by 2012 “Idol Golf” will include a stable of more than 300 golf tournaments on the West Coast particularly in the Arizona market, with approximately 10-12 larger national events for celebrity and sports clients.
